If I’ve been reading books or magazine articles on relationships, chances are I’ve discovered that there’s conflicting advice on how to deal with different parts of a relationship.
One source, for example, may recommend keeping some things secret, while another stresses being open and honest about everything. Another may focus on ways to keep your partner faithful, while yet another points out that such attempts may backfire.
It’s hard at times to know who’s right, and who’s wrong. And it seems that the more I read, the more confusing some things get.
When I think about it though, no one has a perfect understanding of how relationships work. If someone did, everyone would be beating a path to their door. every writer bases their beliefs on what they’ve learned and experienced for themselves. The only way I’ll ever be able to find out how well their beliefs work for me is to try those that show some promise. Like shoes, I may have to try on many different types before I find those that fit comfortably.

Just for Today
Today, I’ll stop worrying about the differences I find in relationship writings, and try out the things I read that show some hope of improving our relationship. I’ll find out what works well for us, and what doesn’t.

Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it. - Andre Gide
